The purpose of this study was to develop a rehabilitation recreation gymnastics program appropriate for poor-health elderly people; and to test its effects on grip strength and subjective well-being. The subjects consisted of 70 ~ 73 poor-health elderly women. The subjects received a 8-week rehabilitation recreation program at a frequency of three lessons per week, for 3o minutes. The methods of data collection included pre-/post-test measurements of the grip strength and subjective well-being for all participants. The rehabilitation recreation gymnastics program compositions are: (1) warm up program(finger gymnastics, endorphin gymnastics), (2) main program(blood circulation gymnastics, strength improvement program gymnastics), (3) cool down program(flexibility and meditation gymnastics) within 30~40 minute. The findings of this study provide evidence that the rehabilitation recreation gymnastics program facilitates significant improvement in the grip strength and subjective well-being of poor-health elderly women. It is suggested that subjects need to contrast the experimental group with control group in future study.
